Happy Birthday Giorgio

Today is legendary producer Giorgio Moroder’s 67th birthday if my calculations are correct.

Here are three fine examples of his work.

Donna Summer – I Feel Love (Buy) One of the greatest singles of all time.

Sparks – The Number One Song In Heaven (Buy) The Mael brothers and Giorgio – a brilliant combination.

Japan – Life In Tokyo 12-inch Version (Buy) Giorgio makes Japan danceable.

Look here for a Giorgio Moroder discography.

There would have been more but Fileden ground to a halt after three uploads. I may do a part 2 in a couple of days.

Bless you for posting these, for surely Moroder es importante.

I downloaded the Sparks from you having not really listened to it properly for nearly 30 years.

I have it on an ancient tape of a of mate's singles from 1978/79. He had nicked most of them from Woolworths (true).

I remembered this song being one of my faves back then - but tragically hearing it now I find it rather irritating.

None of this is your fault Mick. Or even significant.

You're doing a good job here.

Thanks for the comment. I think we've all experienced that - sometimes reality can't compete with your memory. I've got mixed feelings about some of my old Japan stuff.

I've been concentrating on late 70s/early 80s post punk/new wave, not surprisingly because that's when the majority of my vinyl is from, but I intend to mix it up a bit more over the coming weeks.

Bloody Hell Mick forget Giorgio.
Get Chris Spedding out there.

Raymond,

I will get around to the Chris Spedding song in good time. What were you doing still up at 12.30 anyway?

JC,

I look forward to it..
