Cedric Sharpley

Just heard the sad news that Cedric Sharpley, drummer of Tubeway Army and Dramatis has died. I really liked his style. To put it bluntly he made some of Gary Numan's more dirgey efforts listenable.

I saw them at Bristol Colston Hall September 24th 1979,it was one of those concerts that will forever remain in the memory - and you are right about Ced,the percussion that evening was one of life's wonders. How strange it is in all art that some individuals are revered yet the true pioneers are all but forgotten.

Can I also use these pages to note the sad death of Richard Carpenter who was the creator and producer of Robin of Sherwood, the greatest TV series ever in my opinion,He also created Catweazle - another visionary who worked outside the populist arena but knew exactly what the people wanted.

So it would seem. Haven't heard much about it elsewhere either.

As for the other bloke I have fond memories of Catweazle but only ever watched the 1st episode of Robin of Sherwood.

Pleased to report that The independent did an obituary of Ced last Saturday.
