Yay!

I just got my first takedown notice. I was beginning to feel left out. Apparently Yello and The The got me into trouble. Here are screen grabs of the offending posts:

My Fileden account has also been suspended but the links still appear to work.

Just added this song thanks to Dick's comment:

Two of my pages have been taken down this week. Seemed quite random, but then they always seem to.

Miserable SOBs ;o)

Well done Mick - you old rebel you.

Simon,
It does all seem a bit arbitrary.
Baldrick,
Agreed but I may have a cunning plan…
Dick,
I was going to write an acid tongued post dripping with vitriol aimed at ‘the man’ but I have to go to my mates house for lunch while the kids all play together. The revolutions gonna have to start without me (or at least wait until my dinner’s settled)…

Welcome to the club, Michael! What took you so long to join?? ;-))
Subterfuge...that's the name of the game.

You have my respect, Mick. Your response is far more eloquent than a furious tirade.

I've only been busted once (for Prince) I'm expecting another whack soon - I don't get why they've set their sights on bloggers rather than torrent abusers - I got things off my chest here if you fancy a peep

Can someone explain to me how this comes to pass?

I was asked just once a while back to remove a Black Crowes track and of course I complied. But how do you know if a post or page is removed? What alerts you?

Taking up arms...

Don't overdo the malevolence and bitter outpourings Michael. You know it's no good for your heartburn.

Have an nice early night with a Rennie luvvy.

Good post Mondo but how come it took you so long to write your first drunken post? Ib has also written several posts on the issue and I don't think I can add anything useful because between you and Steve you've said it all.
Jon,
It all starts with an email from support@blogger. Here's the first paragraph:
"Blogger has been notified, according to the terms of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), that certain content in your blog infringes upon the copyrights of others. The URL(s) of the allegedly infringing post(s) may be found at the end of this message."

I am smarting about the removal of my Festive Fifty post over at 17 Seconds, so solidarity comrade...

Mick said...

Thanks, Ed. And now they've removed my Visage 'Mind Of A Toy' 12-inch post.

The link still works though so if anyone wants it right click and 'save as' here.

Just had my Rick Wright tribute obliterated - bastards.

Still can't quite get my head round The The/Matt Johnston being affected by this....

Mick said...

Entrailicus,
So far my Rick Wright tribute remains untouched.
JC,
As has been said it all seems very arbitrary. If somebody is using software to search for specific copyright violations how come they found 'Uncertain Smile' but not 'Three Orange Kisses From Kazan' on my blog? Why take down the Entrailicus (Fades In Slowly) Rick Wright tribute but not mine? And why not go after people posting whole albums, sometimes new releases?

There's a lot of it about :(
My takedowns have all been rips of scratchy old vinyls for some reason?
