Disc-007

I do a lot of driving and it’s the only place I can listen to music without interruptions these days. Donna Summer has been getting heavy rotation on the car stereo for the past few weeks and I’ve been particularly enjoying Dim All The Lights. The other day I was groovin’ to it with my boys and one of them pointed out the music around 50-seconds in was similar to the excellent discofied James Bond theme featured in The Spy Who Loved Me, still one of my favourite Bond films if that doesn’t make me sound too Alan Partridge. You can here this tune on the Menu screen and when Roger Moore is being chased on skis by that bloke from UFO. Have a listen and see if you agree.

mp3: Donna Summer - Dim All The Lights (12-inch version)
mp3: Marvin Hamlisch - Bond 77

On a totally unrelated note do you know what you were doing at exactly this time eleven years ago? I was sitting in a pub in Dundee with family and friends celebrating my last night as a single man.

A day early but thank you Simon.

I was just thinking (amidst my pathetic sniffling)'Will Mick ever post again??' and then I pop in and there's all this loveliness.

'Down Deep Inside' also sounds like Bond, but then it was written by Our Lord Sir John Barry.

I wanted that submarinal Lotus soooo much.

Donna Summer 'file is invalid'...???

PS: 'He means his cock!'. Brilliant.

Hope your mancold is getting better. I've just successfully downloaded 'Dim All The Lights'. If you still have problems let me know.

Don't you think Marvin Hamlisch did one of the best non-Barry scores?

Davy H said...

Definitely.

The DS is working now. Weird.

Good to have you back *sniff*

I bagsied 77 as the best year ever last summer , but forgot to include this double 0 gem (it's my fave Bond film too) - and The Rah Band meets Giorgio Moroder isn't it..

I got to see that Lotus in real life - it was on show in the local department store, and we popped into see it on the way the 'Spy Who' film. It was when people still went to cinema dressed 'smart' and I worE brown Lord Anthony flares...

PS everyone cheered when the Union Jack parachute opened

what a spanner I did include the Bond tune in the post - blame it on slow-moving hangover..

Oh I was going to keep quiet but I'm pretty proud of my dad's film extra career back in the 70s. My dad was one of the crew of the captured submarine that Bond is on. I saw it in the cinema with him, but he fell asleep half way through.

Other notables on his resume: Z-Cars, three episodes; I,Claudius, two episodes; Stand Up Virgin Soldiers; and a little known film called Star Wars...

He's only ever watched half of The Spy Who Loved Me and an episode of Z-Cars though.

Oh and Spy has my favourite ever Bond Girl too: Caroline Munro as Naomi, the helicopter pilot. Ah.

Didn't mention my dad in PM's post from last year, but did mention Caroline Munro...;)

Mondo,
I remember that post. I should have downloaded Bond 77 then and saved myself 79p.

Simon,
You've mentioned your Dads Extra career on your blog if I recall correctly. I'm impressed with the I, Claudius connection (as well as Bond, of course). One of the best series ever.

Hamster!

Mick said...

Hamster!? What does that mean? Hav you been mixing your cough medecine with your G & T?

Davy H said...

Simon's Bond girl. See comments to this post.

Simon said...

Not as hamster as yours. And mine looks better in a bikini...

I thought Davy H's "hampster" was a sneeze. And I say Dave C's choice of bevy must be wrong if there are hangovers involved. Try Davy's g 'n t's. They cure all problems with no regrets in my experience. Avoid beer. And as for dear Simon, who seems to know something about women, post some ruddy snaps so that we might judge for ourselves. Back into my hole now....

Oops! Forgot about Mick. He posts so seldom.... Happy anniversary! You've lasted over seven years, so I guess you're stuck with her.

Davy H said...

Yes happy anniversary Mick and Mrs Mick - cheers from us all x

Now I get it. There's a mother at the school that we used to call hamster about 25 years ago. I haven't mentioned it to any of her new friends but it's tempting.
