Friday treat

Somehow I missed this back in 1979 despite the fact it got to No 28 and the band appeared on Top of the Pops. I stumbled on it whilst messing around on Youtube a few weeks ago and I had to have it. This copy, still in its HMV shrink wrap cost me just 99p from Ebay. It’s a sort of mutant Blondie with nice Mick Glossop production.

Nice find. Looks like this record was a fairly early release on the Beggars Banquet label. I hope someone besides you and I likes it.

I remember this, probably because the first Smash Hits I ever bought had the lyrics in.

It's sort of Blondie vs Lene Lovich isn't it?

They'll love it Darkdance. What's not to like.

Well remembered, Davy. At that time I was a Sounds and NME person but I made my girlfriend buy Smash Hits

Just to be clear I WAS NOT MICK'S GIRLFRIEND, OK?

Mick said...

I can confirm that. Never really went for blondes.

No davyh, you were far better looking.

Had forgotten this til I just played it. Jolly good.
Sprinkling of Hazel O'Conner thrown in the mix too.

PS As I approach 50, my eyes are dim and my knees are old and bent. Can you get rid of that new word veri thing cos it takes me 4 goes to get through. Over.

Should it be of interest, I'm listening to a Nightwish song and my Elaine has shared it with three other people including the surly delicious Ariane who emmanates from Paris and is a dead ringer for the girl singer. My sport.

And Dick is spot on about the two-unreadable-words privacy shit. It sucks.

Can I get that on toast?

Corker - I never had it, but was strangley moved by it. She was like Lorraine Chase goes glam punk..

My first Smash Hits was November 78 with the Jam cover. My mate Whitlow used the Debbie Harry centrefold to cover his school book
