Half forgotten album tracks

You know those album tracks that you loved but weren’t singles and never appear on ‘Best of…’ compilations and don’t even get a little tick next to them on Allmusic reviews? That’s what this is about. It might be part of a series or it might be a one off – it depends how drunk I am and how I feel about it tomorrow.

First up, my favourite track from Journeys To Glory (after To Cut A Long Story Short and The Freeze obviously).

mp3: Spandau Ballet - Confused (1981) (Buy)

Loved pretty much every track of this album at the time. Somehow this one had slipped my mind since; thanks for the reminder!

I enjoyed Spandau up through Instinction (the single version) but bailed when True came out. Then I moved back to the States and True was still big so I had to hear it all over again.

If you’d forgotten the song and enjoyed hearing it again that’s mission accomplished for this post.

Drinking beer while blogging and recalling forgotten album tracks strike me as signs of genius, Mick. I only hope that you feel ok today.

On Journeys To Glory, I would select Reformation and/or Age Of Blows as should-have-been-singles. But Matt is correct. The whole LP is good.

It didn't feel like genius at 6 o'clock this morning.

Tut tut Michael...another BWP production?
I was alone at Our Price in my liking for this band (although I thought 'Through The Barricades' was toss). Another contender for the 'Best Band Never To Do A Peel Session'...which I plan to launch a competition about very soon...

It's the only way to do it. Sadly, I've got nothing to say when I'm sober. I actually bought a record in your Our Price store but 1980 would have been before your time, wouldn't it? I'd have to be pissed to admit what it was (maybe I'll post it next Friday).

You worry me, fluffy. Too much beer (in cans) and too few gin and tonics (in glasses) is what it sounds like.

Personally, I don't care what you say on your blog. If I want brilliant prose, I can go off and read Davy H's latest. But what I actually want is TUNES. Music from the 80's that I like. Music like what you used to post before I started leaving comments... (oops). Mick, why don't you simply go back to raiding the vinyl archive?! Find something you like and post it. Or did the misses give the v.a. to charity and you're holding out on us?

I can think of approximately one million posts that neither you nor any other 80's-throwback blogger have not yet made. Feel free to email me if you want some suggestions shoved up your... well, you know... raw raw skirt.

Have AS yet made. Damned cheap gin.... But i'll keep raw raw.

PM, odd picks. Was that your first drunken post?

Most of my half forgotten album tracks are now completely forgotten. At least by me and my familiars. Old age, you know. So who did that new wave song with the lyrics...

"I don't want to argue
There's nothing to say
Just get me out of your sorry ars
And be on your way"

- ? Not sure if it was a single or an album track or what. But it definitely was something of a hit in the late '70's. Some people may have heard the lyrics wrong.
